• The joint computation offloading and active reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) optimization problem (JCORO) in industrial MEC for the delay guarantee and energy efficiency is studied. • The properties of JCORO have been theoretically analyzed. • A two-stage heuristic scheme, called RISADA, has been proposed to solve JCORO based on the theoretical analysis.
