• Anecdotal observation suggests that people with ADHD are more creative than average. • Previous tests of this hypothesis have yielded weak, inconsistent results. • We found that strong ADHD symptoms are associated with problem-solving with creative insight. • Subjects with very strong or weak symptoms solved more problems than intermediate subjects.
