• The Silicon substrate was coated with macrophage-derived membrane vesicles carrying ligands for inflamed endothelial receptors. • The surface coating promotes ligand-mediated interactions, facilitating endothelial cell adhesion and growth. • The coated surface supports the symbiotic growth of endothelial and smooth muscle cells (SMCs), preventing SMCs from adopting a synthetic phenotype. • Our surface coating inhibits NF-kB activation, regulates VWF, and preserves VE-Cadherin-mediated cell junction stability.
