• Breaks from the classic inflammation/pyroptosis paradigm to reveal a non-inflammatory, metabolic role of Caspase-1 in driving adipocyte beiging. • Defines the upstream cAMP-C/EBPβ axis that suppresses Caspase-1, outlining a complete cAMP-Caspase-1-COX7A2L regulatory pathway. • Proposes a novel mechanism where Caspase-1 cleaves COX7A2L to inhibit mitochondrial respiration, based on proteomics and validation. • Confirms that adipocyte Caspase-1 deficiency promotes beiging and protects against diet-induced obesity and metabolic dysfunction.
