• A novel 3D micro-cone engineered electrode for efficient bubble manipulation is proposed, utilizing PμSL technology. • By adjusting the geometric dimensions and structural parameters of the micro-cones, H2 bubbles behavior can be achieved. • Theoretical explanations of the bubble manipulation mechanism by the micro-cone structured electrode are provided. • The micro-cone electrode demonstrates excellent H2 manipulation, electrochemical performance, and H2 production stability.
