Abstract

• Ageing-related tau astrogliopathy (ARTAG) is frequent in the oldest old (79.6%). • ARTAG is associated with male sex (OR: 2.39 [1.11–5.13] for medial temporal lobe ARTAG). • Any ARTAG is associated with argyrophilic grains (p = 0.022, OR = 2.12 [1.11–4.03]). • LATE-NC and hippocampal sclerosis of ageing are associated with various ARTAG subtypes. • Micro- and small infarcts are associated with various ARTAG subtypes.
