• Cyber security awareness strengthens the association between AI assimilation and green ambidexterity. • Green ambidexterity is a necessary capability for firms to achieve sustainability by leveraging AI. • AI assimilation improves economic performance but neither social nor environmental. • Sustainable business performance is negatively associated with supply chain resilience. • Organizations need to employ both exploitative and exploratory practices to achieve sustainable outcomes.
