In the digital era, language is increasingly mediated by algorithmic systems that process, classify, and hierarchize discourse on digital platforms. These systems, developed within technical frameworks specific to electronic and computational engineering, not only regulate the circulation of content but also actively shape the cognitive processes through which individuals interpret, evaluate, and legitimize language. This article takes an interdisciplinary approach, combining critical linguistics, psychosociolinguistics, and conceptual contributions from electronic engineering in order to analyze algorithmic discursive control as a sociotechnical process that reconfigures symbolic power in digital environments. Taking a qualitative, theoretical-reflexive approach, the study looks at how discursive prioritization architectures operate as mechanisms of linguistic amplification and attenuation, conditioning the visibility, credibility, and normalization of specific discourses. Unlike approaches focused exclusively on textual analysis, the article argues that contemporary discursive power is increasingly exercised through opaque algorithmic infrastructures that displace agency toward automated decision-making systems. As its main contribution, the article offers a conceptual definition of algorithmic discursive control, introduces an interdisciplinary category for analyzing the algorithmic mediation of language, and problematizes the epistemological limits of Critical Discourse Analysis in the face of the automation of linguistic judgment. In doing so, the article contributes to current debates on language, algorithms, and power, highlighting the need to broaden the critical horizon of linguistics in the digital age.
