• For the first time the adaptation of radiocarbon (14C) calibrated ages from well-dated water sediments to loess.. • A dramatic shift in atmospheric circulation in Central-East Europe occurred approximately 22,3 ka ago. • The change from southern to northern katabatic winds was estimated to have transpired over a period of 30 -100 yeras.
