• Umbrella-like Geometry: The B9MO− (M = Be, Mg) clusters adopt a 3D umbrella-like structure with high C7v symmetry. The central B and Mg atoms are coordinated by an arene analogous B7Be/B8 moiety and a BO group. • Double aromaticity: B9MO− (M = Be, Mg) clusters exhibit inherent double aromaticity—6π/6σ electrons delocalization on B7Be/B8 moiety. • Metallomimetic behavior: The central boron atom in B9BeO− manifests exceptional metallomimetic behavior.
