• A fully automated FIA-TLE-SWV system enables reagent-free, online monitoring of silicate in complex coastal waters. • The system achieved 0.4 μM detection limit, and <1 mL sample consumption per analysis. • The system showed robust long-term stability and excellent selectivity capability. • The system achieved the determination of silicate in both coastal seawater samples and diatom culture experiments.
