• Novel iterative approach elevates original shear deformation orders exponentially. • ISDT models maintain minimal kinematic variables for high efficiency. • The ISDT framework accurately models anisotropic FG-TPMS plate structures. • NURBS-based IGA validates excellent agreement of ISDT with 3D elasticity solutions. • Moderate orders (n = 2, 3) capture complex through-thickness stress distributions.
