Wind is one of the most abundant and environment friendly energy sources among renewable power sources. This paper aims to provide an efficient, reliable and cost effective model for off grid wind power solution for small industries, homes, Base transceiver station BTS and remote rural areas. Primary focus is on the design of an efficient and intelligent charge controller that utilizes maximum wind power and avoids any battery overcharge thus enhancing battery life. The complete setup incorporates an Electric Generator, a rectifier block along with proper filtering, DC-DC converter, setup for pulse charging, battery bank and a sine wave inverter. This controller continuously monitors the battery status, and modifies the charge current accordingly. Pulse charging has been introduced to allow high current pulses for a shorter time resulting in reduced unwanted chemical reactions at the electrode surface. Power steering circuit is also used to steer and dissipate the power into the dummy loads to avoid the unnecessary charge flow into the battery bank.
