• Experimentally collected data and data from the literature were used to validate the CFD model in the current study. • The proposed regression model can predict the PV/T comprehensive performance under various operating conditions. • The highest PV module electrical power can be achieved by keeping the channel height to 5 mm and fluid velocity to 0.1 m/s. • Minimizing the entropy generation can be obtained at a channel height of 3 mm and a water velocity of 0.0025 m/s.
