This letter presents an efficient design technique for optimizing parameters on antenna designs by using a heuristic single-core sampling inertia-weight-enhanced particle swarm optimization (HSCS-IWEPSO) method. During the optimization design process, the proposed HSCS-IWEPSO consists of only two stages that efficiently balance local and global search ability. In the first step, a novel heuristic single-core sampling method is introduced to generate a representative design parameter sample set, which can obtain a highly uniform sample set with small sample sizes. Subsequently, on the basis of taking the representative design parameter sample set as the initial population, the inertia-weight-enhanced particle swarm optimization method is adopted to optimize the design parameters of the antenna with the aim of searching for the global optimal solution. The performance of the HSCS-IWEPSO method is verified using two antennas, including a monopole antenna and an antipodal Vivaldi antenna. Numerical validation results show that, compared with other well-known methods, the proposed method obtains better antenna performance in two multiobjective optimization cases, which proves that the proposed method has stronger optimization performance.
