Abstract

An original scheme for multilevel time integration of two-dimensional gas dynamic problems, based on multilevel grids, is proposed. This scheme is tested on axisymmetric problem of gas oscillations inside and outside open tube with diameter jump. Pressure oscillations at frequencies close to the resonant value were studied and compared with the results obtained by other authors using analytical and experimental approaches. Secondary flows in the form of toroidal vortices are detected near the closed and open ends of the tube. It was found that an intense pulsating jet is formed in the area of the open end of the tube.
