Large language models are being employed in many applications areas. This chapter examines the potential use of large language models to enhance the usability, safety and reliability of industrial control systems in critical infrastructure assets. Specifically, it demonstrates how large language models can be used to create ladder logic programs for programmable logic controllers used for system automation and potentially identify vulnerabilities during programmable logic controller development.
