Abstract

• Extruded bimodal Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Mn alloy achieves 372 MPa ultimate tensile strength and 17.3% elongation. • Narrow coarse grains enable uniform strain partitioning and continuous GNDs gradient near fine grain and coarse grain hetero-interfaces. • Continuous GNDs gradients sustain HDI hardening, delay microcracks, and enhance ductility.
