As technology advances, artificial intelligence is increasingly integrated into educational settings, raising important questions about its impact on learning and academic integrity. This study describes the perspectives of Filipino nurse educators on the role of artificial intelligence in maintaining academic integrity. A descriptive qualitative design was used, with a two-phase data collection process employing purposive sampling. In Phase 1, open-ended online responses were collected via Google Forms from 23 nurse educators to elicit initial perspectives on AI and academic integrity. In Phase 2, findings from the online responses informed a focus group discussion with 19 participants, enabling deeper exploration, clarification, and expansion of emerging issues. Data from both phases were integrated and analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s six-step thematic analysis framework. Through iterative coding and theme development, 148 initial codes were generated, consolidated into 14 subthemes, and organized into four major themes: “Policy Gaps: Need for Agile Ethical Frameworks,” “Critical AI Literacy: Essential for Students and Educators,” “AI as a Double-Edged Sword in Nursing Education,” and “Balancing AI Use and Human Learning.” This study concludes that AI is a valuable educational tool but may compromise academic integrity and critical thinking, highlighting the need for institutional policies, ethical guidelines, and user training in higher education.
