Even as information technology empowers consumers in various ways, the influence of internet usage on household tourism consumption remains under-researched. This study investigates the degree to which individual internet usage influences tourism consumption behavior. Using a two-stage Heckman model, this study reveals that internet access positively affects both tourism participation and household tourism expenditure. Internet usage time and household tourism expenditure are positively correlated, with online information reliance further mediating the relationship between these variables. The promotional effects of internet access on tourism consumption are notably more significant among individuals with higher household incomes, higher education, and retirement status.
