• Various reproduction operators are focused on the symmetrical variables and neglect asymmetrical variables. • Asymmetrical variables with great similarities play an important role in facilitating each other’s effective exploration of the vast decision space. • An asymmetrical variable driven simulated binary crossover operator is constructed. Extensive experiments show its superiority over state-of-the-art methods.
