• Fundamental physical properties of the zinc-blende BexMg1-xO alloys were predicted. • The gap energy of BexMg1-xO is determined as a function of Be composition. • The optical constants ε, n and K of BexMg1-xO increase with increasing Be composition. • The thermal properties of BexMg1-xO alloys are investigated as function of temperature and pressure.
