• CuCo2O4@PPy core–shell nanoarrays coupled with a K3Fe(CN)6 redox electrolyte. • Areal capacitance rises from 1005 to 3607 mF cm−2, a ∼3.5-fold enhancement. • Redox mediator shuttles electrons beyond surface-limited pseudocapacitance. • Reduced charge-transfer resistance; 97.4% retention after 5000 cycles. • Solid-state ASC delivers 29 Wh kg−1 at 800 W kg−1 with PVA–KOH–K3Fe(CN)6 gel.
