• A novel Ce-HAP/CS/BF bio-nanocomposite derived from natural waste for environmental and biomedical uses • Efficient photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue using hydroxyl radicals • Ce-HAP/CS/BF revealed promising antibacterial efficacy against E. coli and S. aureus. • Excellent cytocompatibility with over 90 % viability in MG63 osteoblast-like cells • Controlled water absorption and degradation in simulated body fluid
