Redefining Higher Education: Innovation, Inclusion, and Sustainable Development During Wartime (edited by Yana Sychikova, 2024) is an extraordinary collective monograph that documents how Ukrainian universities, confronted with the devastations of war, are re-imagining their missions through innovation, inclusion, and sustainability. Drawing on empirical studies, institutional case analyses, and the Triple Helix framework linking government, academia, and industry, the volume illustrates how higher education functions as a cornerstone of national resilience and recovery. This review interprets the book as both a scholarly analysis and a moral statement—one that reframes the university as a community of values rather than a physical structure. It critically evaluates the work’s conceptual coherence, methodological depth, and relevance to global debates on education in emergencies, inclusive pedagogy, and sustainable reconstruction. The book’s importance lies in its demonstration that higher education can be an instrument of peacebuilding and social transformation. It will be of value to scholars, policymakers, and practitioners in education, sustainability, and post-conflict reconstruction worldwide.
