Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
• In this study, we developed an open-source edge-computing thermal imaging system that can precisely detect the presence and count in-building occupancy in real-time. • The proposed system overcomes some of the existing problems of in-building occupancy detection technologies such as low accuracy, required motion, or incapability of detecting focused areas. • Different environmental characteristics have been considered in experiments. • The proposed technology has the potential to reduce building energy consumption as well as promote indoor thermal comfort due to the low resolution of the thermal camera. • We have open-sourced both hardware design and source code, together with a step-by-step tutorial.
