The foremost issues of 21st century are challenging demand of electrical energy and to control the emission of Green House Gases (GHG). In the regard of zero carbon emission, fossil fuel independency, efficiency and reliability improvement of conventional grid, renewable energy resources based sustainable microgrid emerges as only feasible solution for future energy demand. In this paper optimization and implementation of institutional based sustainable microgrid discussed on the basis of cost analysis, carbon emission, and availability of energy resources. Various microgrid topologies are considered for addressing the most ideal solution. A sustainable microgrid proposed with PV panel (150kW), Wind turbine system (100kW), and Storage system (250kWh) in grid connected mode to sell back excess energy. Cost of energy ( COE), Net Present Cost (NPC), operating cost (OC0 reduces from INR 6.0, 28.1 M, 2.17 M to 2.85, 20.5 M, 0.44 M, while 80% emission reduces. The metrological data such as irradiance is acquired from solar satellite data of NASA while the data for wind speed is taken from synergy enviro engineer's site. HOMER (R) simulation tool is used for modelling and optimization purpose.
