Professor Ben Zhong Tang coined the term “aggregation-induced emission” (AIE), spearheaded AIE research worldwide, and expanded its scope from light emission to aggregate science. In this interview with Chem, he discusses student mentoring, career development, the discovery of AIE, the future of aggregate science, and his experience with the journal.
