• A post-branching strategy is developed to enhance the chemical stability of AEMs without sacrificing ionic conductivity. • The b-PDTP-TPE membrane achieves 138.9 mS cm−1 at 80 °C with robust mechanical strength. • In AEMWEs, the b-PDTP-TPE membrane delivers high current densities and outstanding operational stability under fluctuating power inputs.
