• Optimal growth in S. schlegelii occurs at 24 °C, whereas chronic exposure to 27 °C significantly suppresses growth. • By 90 dpp, the specific growth rate of the 27 °C group returns to, but does not exceed, the control level, indicating no compensatory growth. • Chronic exposure to 27 °C induces a shift from hyperplastic to hypertrophic muscle growth without causing overt structural damage. • Heat stress triggers a transient transcriptional response in key myogenic genes and factors, resolving upon temperature normalization.
