• A milling and hot-forming process for titanium alloy Leading Edge Protection (LEP) was developed. • A collaborative optimization design method for pre-forming model of LEP was proposed. • The collaborative control mechanism of the pre-forming model on milling efficiency and hot formability was clarified. • Material removal accuracy and near-net-shape capability in the collaborative process was achieved.
