We dispute the claim of Kaur et al. (2025) that the rocks of the late Archaean chromititic anorthosite complex at Sittampundi were formed by magma mixing. Because of the very close geological and geochemical similarities between the rocks of the Sittampundi Anorthosite Complex (SAC) and the Fiskenæsset Complex in west Greenland, we argue that the rocks of the SAC can be better understood (a) through the Fiskenæsset analogue and (b) through the robust crystal chemistry of the chromitites. Such a model was proposed by Veni et al. (2025) and suggests that a fractional crystallisation model, rather than magma mixing, provides a better way to interpret the chemical variations in the Fiskenæsset chromitites and by inference the evolution of the SAC.
