• Geopyörä results were compared with SMC and Bond standard comminution tests. • Weak correlations were found for Geopyörä estimates of DWi and A × b. • Moderate correlation was observed between Geopyörä and Bond-measured BWi. • Proxy-test uncertainty caused large differences in predicted energy and power. • Using proxy tests alone may increase risk in comminution circuit design.
