Abstract

A comprehensive design theory for the winding inductance of HSPMMs based on a field-control coupling analysis system and a comprehensive evaluation of motor performance is introduced in this paper. In addition, a per-unit value-based analytical model for calculating winding phase self-inductance is developed. This study finds that increasing the phase inductance significantly suppresses harmonic currents and reduces harmonic losses. The propose design theory for winding inductance is applicable to HSPMMs with rated torques of less than 100 mN & centerdot;m. This design theory can effectively guide the winding inductance design for small-torque HSPMMs, significantly enhancing the overall performance of the motor and reducing the complexity and manufacturing costs of the control and drive circuits.
