Abstract

• UiO-66-NH2@SGO nano-fillers were prepared using the in-situ growth method. • Zr-O-C bonds, hydrogen bonds and interactions improved the compatibility of the composite PEM. • C-SPAEKS/NU6@SGO-1 showed the highest proton conductivity (239.31 mS cm−1 at 90 °C). • Good interfacial interactions enhanced dimensional stability of C-SPAEKS/NU6@SGO-1. • C-SPAEKS/NU6@SGO exhibited good fuel cell performance via multi-scale proton channels.
