This paper aims to conduct a systematic literature review of the most recent research on the relationship between bank stability and corporate social responsibility (CSR), using the Web of Science database. A brief bibliometric analysis of all studies on banks suggests that the relationship between bank stability and CSR remains underexplored. We suggest that future studies take a more comprehensive look at how they measure bank stability and CSR, to increase the robustness of their results. Special attention should be given to the European context, along with more comprehensive analyses that allow comparisons between banking and different subsectors of the financial system. Further research is needed to explore the moderating and mediating effects of this relationship, with technological innovation, the macroeconomic context, new regulatory contexts, and stakeholder pressure being some of the avenues to explore.
