Abstract

• Field measurements of axially magnetized rings show localized magnetic distortions. • Bearing defects are modeled as a harmonic excitation with discrete integer orders. • Disturbance force is primarily governed by zero- and first-order defect components. • Concept of magnetic rotor balancing is demonstrated via controlled defect induction.
