• Deposition and clearance of MPs was evaluated with ExDoM2 dosimetry model. • Experimental data for MPs concentrations and size distribution were used. • The highest MP deposition occurred in the extra-thoracic region. • After clearance MPs are retained mainly in the tracheobronchial and alveolar regions. • Dose in the alveolar region increased constantly due to very slow clearance.
