The present study aimed to design, manufacture, and characterize a 3D printed poly (lactic acid) (PLA) stent in vitro. Additionally, the study evaluated the cytotoxicity and cellular adhesion/proliferation of the stent. SolidWorks software was used to design the PLA stent, which was then made utilizing the liquid crystal display (LCD) technique. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) were among the methods used to characterize the printed stents. The murine endothelial cell line (SVEC4-10) was used to assess cell viability. The results demonstrated the successful design and fabrication of the stent using PLA resin. Optical microscopy and SEM analyses revealed a qualitatively smooth surface and consistent geometric features across the stent structure. Moreover, FTIR, DSC, TGA, and NMR analyses confirmed that the printed stent exhibited the characteristic functional groups and thermal features of PLA. The stent also exhibited good biocompatibility with significant cell attachment. Overall, the LCD 3D printed PLA stent demonstrated potential as a biocompatible polymeric stent, warranting further in vivo studies.
