Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
• A new family of composite honeycombs is developed by inscribed regular-polygonal coupling. • The in-plane crushing responses of the proposed structures under quasi-static and different impact-velocity loadings are systematically studied by experiments and finite element simulations. • IOCS and ICCS exhibit higher specific energy absorption than the conventional CS under impact loading. • Inner-ring thickness provides an effective geometric parameter for tuning plateau response and energy absorption. • The ICCS-based energy-absorbing box achieves higher specific energy absorption and lower peak contact force.
