• Quadratic polynomial model describes VOD–diameter dependence (R2 up to 0.988) • LDE VOD is practically independent of initiation method (max. difference < 100 m/s) • LDE achieves higher VOD than ANFO across all tested diameters (29–71 mm) • Steel tube confinement raises LDE VOD by ∼500 m/s versus unconfined conditions • Critical diameter of EPS-sensitized LDE: approximately 50 mm (IED) and 22 mm (IED+B) unconfined
