Abstract
En 中文
This study aims to develop a sustainable grease using nanotechnology to increase its tribological performance in wheel/rail systems. This work consisted of two steps: first, grease production, with an innovative technique to add nanoparticles in the grease, and the second was a tribological test using a pin-on-disc tribometer. The tribological pair was extracted from the rail and wheel. Epoxidized soybean oil and natural nano-structured thickener were used to formulate biogrease. The results showed that this new grease could significantly reduce the wear on the wheel and rail compared to reference grease, avoiding oxidation of the worn surfaces. Also, adding nanoparticles can catalyze reactions on base oil, forming a tribofilm of carbon amorphous.
