• ZnSt2 and CaSt2 differently affect VE processing stabilization in ZN-PE. • Low-loading ZnSt2 improves VE stabilization, whereas CaSt2 impairs it. • High loadings of ZnSt2 and CaSt2 impair VE stabilization. • Catalyst residues and metal stearates jointly affect VE stabilization in ZN-PE.
