• A phase-difference-based edge-centric temporal multilayer network (PETMN) method is proposed to depict brain dynamics. • The method reveals the temporal evolution of community structures across distinct seizure periods. • Network metrics show significant differences between ictal and interictal states, unveiling key reorganization mechanisms. • PETMN effectively distinguishes seizure onset zones from propagation and non-involved zones.
