Research Highlights • A novel dynamic soft variable structure control (DSVSC) strategy is proposed for Delta operator singular systems under high frequency sampling. • The Delta operator unifies continuous-time singular system and discrete-time singular system models, and overcomes numerical ill-condition stability of shift operator discretization. • The proposed controller effectively attenuates the chattering and accelerates the convergence by the selection strategy employing the dynamic difference equation. • The admissibility of the Delta operator singular DSVSC systems is rigorously proved by a singular Lyapunov function. • The controller parameters are designed, and the simulation results show superior dynamic performance compared with conventional control strategies.
