• This meta-analysis included 18 studies and evaluated the relationship between the GH–IGF-1 axis and MASLD. • Compared with controls, individuals with MASLD exhibited significantly lower circulating levels of GH and IGF-1. • Circulating IGF-1 levels were significantly lower in individuals with MASH and more advanced liver fibrosis.
