• Blockade did not reduce perioperative opioid use in high-risk pediatric AT. • Sugammadex reversal allowed for rapid emergence without surgical delays. • No significant difference found in postoperative respiratory complications. • Blockade was associated with more low minute ventilation events in the PACU.
