This study examines the effects of integrating business intelligence systems (BISs) with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems on firm operational performance. Using a sample of 58 publicly listed companies in Taiwan, the study investigates how ERP system origin, the duration of implementing such systems, and BIS consultant evaluations influence performance metrics such as return on assets, return on equity, return on sales, and operating expense ratios. Regression analysis results reveal that firms adopting international ERP systems outperform those using Taiwanese ERP systems, highlighting the importance of ERP system maturity to BIS implementation. Additionally, a longer ERP implementation period before BIS adoption is associated with an increased return on equity, although lengthening this implementation period has limited effects on other variables. Consultant evaluations are positively correlated with operational outcomes, emphasising their value in postimplementation assessments of BIS effectiveness. This study contributes to the literature by demonstrating how system characteristics and organisational readiness influence BIS implementation success; the study also provides practical recommendations for optimising BIS and ERP system integration strategies.
