Given the complexity, diversity and heterogeneity of tumors, the combination of multiple treatments likely achieves better therapeutic effect than the sole treatment. Herein, to realize the triple therapeutic effects for tumor, fibrous membrane constituted by silk fibroin (SF), poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA), indocyanine green (ICG) and doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) were prepared by electrospinning. With the photothermal and photodynamic effects of loaded ICG, this electrospun SF/PLGA/20ICG/DOX membrane could increase by 43.9 degrees C in 20 min and generated ROS for apoptosis of tumor cells under near infrared (NIR) irradiation. The loaded chemotherapeutic antitumor drug DOX had controllable release effect based on the photothermal property of SF/ PLGA/20ICG/DOX membrane. These triple synergistic antitumor effects could kill HepG2 and B16 cells in vitro and could significantly inhibit tumor growth in vivo. The design of electrospun SF/PLGA/20ICG/DOX membrane with triple synergistic effects provides a novel strategy for cancer therapy, showing great potential for application in local treatment of tumor.
