• The Lewis acid-base pair of Pd and O sites in the Ti-O matrix was constructed for site-specific reactant activation. • The optimized catalyst delivers a high 2MBZ yield of 3.80 mmol·g-1·h-1 and an H₂ generation rate of 14.17 mmol·g-1·h-1. • Ov enhance the Lewis basicity of adjacent O, while strong metal-support interaction improves charge carrier separation. • The catalyst shows well performance under real sunlight and a techno-economic analysis confirms its industrial viability.
